Case Study - Residential Water Damage

Case Study - Residential Water Damage

The Problem

Residential property (home). Water damage caused by an activated fire sprinkler system originating in the sauna, resulting in widespread flooding across multiple rooms.

The property remained habitable however four areas were severely affected — the sauna, hallway, games room, and gym. All rooms recorded 100% saturation across flooring, walls, skirtings, and subfloors. Carpeted areas in the games room and gym were heavily saturated, and games room kickboards were non-restorable due to excessive moisture trapped within the cabinetry.

The Solution

Technicians attended on the day of loss (engaged at 8:17 am and onsite by 10:30 am same day.), extracting standing water and applying anti-microbial treatments before installing drying equipment. Three follow-up monitor checks tracked moisture reduction, with equipment repositioned and partially removed as areas dried. Invasive works were conducted at the first monitor check to address trapped moisture in cabinetry.

Services we employed:

  • Water extraction (98.14m²)
  • Thermal imaging and moisture assessments
  • Anti-microbial treatment
  • Carpet steam cleaning and sanitisation
  • Commercial drying equipment installation
  • Invasive make-safe works (drilling kickboards to release trapped moisture)

The Result

All affected areas were fully restored to a dry reference standard, verified through thermal imaging and moisture testing in line with the IICRC S500 standard.

Hazards were eliminated, Air Filtration Devices were installed, and Anti-microbial biotechnology was applied to all affected surfaces, eliminating risk of mould growth and microbial contamination stemming from prolonged moisture exposure.

The job took 11 days — from initial attendance on 1 April to final equipment pickup on 11 April 2026.

The restoration was completed efficiently and in a reasonable amount of time. The only thing not restored were the kickboards in games room, since we drilled them to release trapped moisture.
